GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP 2006
Last year, 500 people rolled up their sleeves to clean-up, plant, paint, and generally improve the appearance of Georgetown. Our goal this year is to have even more people involved in keeping Georgetown beautiful. Our “Volunteer Thermometer” at City Hall will record your contributions to community improvement.
There are lots of ways to get involved. Here are a few ways YOU can get involved:
ORGANIZE A NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP
The Great American Cleanup™ will kick off on April 5 at 1:00 PM at City Hall. We’ll erect our “Volunteer Thermometer”, and paint a Great American Cleanup dumpster with our CLEAN IT UP, PICK IT UP, RAP IT UP theme.
Bring your registration form and pick up your clean-up kits including:
- CLEAN IT UP, PICK IT UP, RAP IT UP T-shirts
- Trash bags
- Latex gloves
- Volunteer safety vests
- Camera for before-and-after pictures to document your work (bring it back to us and we’ll develop the photos and give them to you on May 13)
- Great American Cleanup™ banner – get all your volunteers to sign it!
- Keep the KGB canvas tote as our thanks for organizing your neighborhood cleanup
Or, send your registration to Keep Georgetown Beautiful by April 3 and pick up your cleanup kit at your convenience.
CLEAN UP GEORGETOWN – ONE YARD AT A TIME – and WIN $100 FROM HOME DEPOT!
Pledge to clean up in front of your home every Saturday in April. All you have to do is walk out your front door, look around for any litter, pick it up and put it in your trashcan. Then say “Hi” to your neighbors, congratulate them on doing the same thing to keep the neighborhood clean, and go about your day.
Do this every Saturday and return a pledge card by May 5 to Keep Georgetown Beautiful (PO Drawer 939, Georgetown SC 29442 or drop it at City Hall). At the CLEAN IT UP, PICK IT UP, RAP IT UP Wrap-Up Celebration on May 13 (11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, City Hall), you could win a drawing for a $100 gift certificate from Home Depot.
