Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is a system that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data in a geospatial form. The system basically takes different types of data and links it to a particular location. In a sense, GIS is the merging of cartography and database technology.
Here are some ways we use GIS:
- Resource Management
- Environmental Impact Assessment
- Cartography
- Urban Planning
- Criminology
