Street Department

The Street Department is responsible for collection of yard debris, brown and white goods such as old household furniture, refrigerators and stoves.  We also provide street maintenance; repairs to potholes, sidewalks, curbing and street signs.

Our Ground Maintenance crew maintains and upkeeps City right ways and all City parks, with the exception of East Bay Park which is maintained by Georgetown County Parks and Recreation at 546-2481. 

The Litter Control and Code Enforcers are individuals who look for areas of overgrown lots and trash violations and will issue a citation to persons that are found not in line with city policies and guidelines.

The Street Department does not repair or remove:

- State Signs (i.e. Stop signs, Yield Signs); and State Roads (i.e. Fraser and Highmarket Streets). Please contact the Department of Transportation ("DOT" at 546-2405).

- Driveway installations. Contact "DOT".

- Storm Drains, Water Meters and/or other Water & Sewer issues. Please contact C.O.G. Water Department at 545-4500.

- City lights, Trimming of trees on City right away. Please contact C.O.G. Electric Department at 545-4600.

- Construction Debris - All wood materials, bath tubs, sinks, commodes, wood cabinets, shingles, tin, sheetrock, masonry material such as cements, bricks and blocks.  A citation can be issued to residents if these materials are not removed from City right away.  

- Yard Debris collected or disposed by Landscaped/Contracted Lawn Services. These contractors are responsible for the disposing of yard debris and they are prohibited from leaving any type of debris on City right away. A citation can be issued to a contractor if these materials are placed on City right away.
